5000 Miles a Year

During Ruuku's get together dinner, Jack said he thinks he saw my car at the parking lot. He asked if I still drove the Sidekick, and he was amazed.

Then after dinner, I had to go back to the restaurant to give Henry his car keys (he left it in a bag he gave me). And Ruuku also was surprised that I still had the same car.

Hmm.
But for three years, I lived two blocks from work & carpooled w/ Sat almost every day.

And for the next four years, I lived about 3 miles away from work so I hardly drive more than 5,000 miles a year. (Yes, I'm in the 1-5000 mile price point for my car insurance)

And if I need to drive far, I just rent a car.

My car is 14 years old & it has 75,000 miles on it.
Not bad, right?
There's no need for a new car yet.

I'll buy a new car when I win the lottery or something.
Oh yeah, I have to go pick up the free ticket I won for the scratch-off lottery ticket.

Three BBQ in Five Days

So for Prince K's farewell dinners, I'm forced to eat three BBQ dinners in five days.

Friday was Manpuku.
Monday was Chosan Galbi.
Tuesday was Manna.

This is waaaaay too much meat.
I'm going to turn vegetarian for the month of March.

And Prepping for a Pink Slip Party

We were planning to have an industry get together this weekend, but I didn't have time to put together an Evite, so it's now scheduled for next weekend.

Evite going out soon.

Prepping for Prince K Farewell Dinner

I sent out an Evite for Prince K's farewell dinner.
It'll be either on the 24th or 25th.

I'll be eating out almost every night starting tomorrow... lots of farewell dinners to do.

Then there's the dinner w/ Ruuku on the 27th.
I have to make sure I don't eat too much w/ all these dinners.

Back in LA

I'm back in LA now.

The flight was supposed to be full, but the seat next to me was open. So I got to sleep a lot on the plane.

I slept in the taxi to JFK too.

That's a lot of sleeping.

Near the end of the flight, there was an announcement calling for doctors or EMTs b/c there was a medical emergency. But it seems like the woman was having an asthma attack. I wonder if I should have handed her my inhaler. She got to leave the plane first.

That's all the excitement for the day.

Now back to sitting at home every day in front of my computer.

Almost Done in NY

Tomorrow is the last day in NY.
My legs are stiff from standing and walking all day. It'll be good to go back to sitting at home all day long.

I'll be home in the evening.
Hopefully Sat can pick me up... *crosses fingers*

No Internet = Bitch

I realized I could be quite bitchy when I can't get online at a hotel.

I called tech support one time on the first night (13th). The guy was pretty helpful, but couldn't help me (so not so helpful), but said he'll move the ticket up to tier 2 tech support.

I wait for the call, but no call.
And I fall asleep.

Next day, I have a message on my hotel phone. Tier 2 tech support person called, and wanted to know if it was fixed or to call back. So I call back, and the tier 1 person tries to help me again, but nothing gets fixed.

I take my laptop to ORG staffer's room to see if I can connect there. No problem, I can connect. Hmmm.

So I head back to my room & call tech support again. They transfer me to tier 2 immediately. The guy tries a few things, but can't get it to work. Says he'll send it up to tier 3 (how many tiers are there?).

Meanwhile, I call the hotel front desk to see if I can change rooms. They don't have any rooms for the night (14th), but will have one in the morning. But they said they'll send a technician to the room.

Technician comes to check the line & it's okay. He tells me to call tech support again.

So I call them back to talk to tier 2 support again. This time demanding that I need to get online TONIGHT (and letting them know I can't get another room). They promise to call back before 2am, but I collapse around 1am. But no call. Before I collapse, I demand that the hotel prepare a new room for me tomorrow & that I'll drop off my keys and stuff around 8am.

And now today.
I turn in the key, tell them to have a new room ready for me in the evening. And I come back at night, get a new room, test out the internet... I can connect, but it's not letting me log in. Argh!

So I call tech support again.
Although I finally connected, so I'm not leaving this room anymore.

But I'm sure going to write a review about this on Yelp and TripAdvisor. Grr!

PS. Uploading photos isn't working on anything. Gmail, Flickr, AVice. I have to wait until I get back to LA to upload my bad photos? Grr!

Arrived in NY Safely

I'm in NY now.

And it's pretty cold here. There's a draft coming in somewhere in the hotel room (I suspect the restroom window), so I'm tucked in & typing away on my computer.

Just reporting that I got to NY safely.

Heading to NY Next Weekend

I'm going to NY next weekend for the Toy Fair.

It's going to be cold & I'm going to hate it.

After I come back, I'll be helping Prince K get ready to move out. If anyone wants furniture or household appliances, let me know.
