Shiz Can't Cook Series: Pineapple Pancakes

I saw Sasami's sis L post that she made pineapple pancakes on Facebook... So I decided to copy and make them for breakfast... er, lunch... today.

I completely rely on Bisquick for pancakes.
And biscuits.
And anything handy the Bisquick box has recipes for.

Attempt 1:
I put in whole chunks of pineapples into the batter.
Six pieces of pineapple chunks, to be exact.
Hmmm... they're too big and lumpy.

No photos.
じゅるる ate them to destroy the evidence.

Attempt 2:
じゅるる suggested I add the pineapples after I lay down the batter. Cuz the last batch didn't come out circular either... The clumps of pineapple prevented the batter from spreading evenly.

I also tried crushing the pineapples this time too. Well, just cut them up w/ a knife.

Oooh, it came out pretty!
And yummy!

I think we'll be eating pineapple pancakes every Sunday until I get sick of them.

PS. Occasionally they flipped over funny and ended up looking like omelets.
And two tiny pancakes flipped over on top of each other (cuz we make mini pancakes w/ the leftover batter). Whoops... I'm pretty good at flipping over pancakes cuz I get practice w/ okonomiyaki. じゅるる thinks I need two flippers, like okonomiyaki.

Yard Sale II (Actually IV)

We had another yard sale at Dee's today.

じゅるる had some stuff to get rid of, plus we had stuff from previous yard sales.

Ichigo & I headed over around 8am to start setting up... and we were ready to sell around 9am.

We were a bit lazy, so we posted one sign along the nearest intersection. But we got a good flow of people coming in anyway. This place is an awesome place to do a yard sale ^__^

Next week is Halloween, so we'll pass out some of the leftover anime stuff then.

PS. C's doggie got big! She used to have stumpy legs like a corgi, but now she actually looks like a dog. When she sits down, she looks like a smart, proper dog... too bad she can't sit still for too long.

Shiz Can't Cook Series: A Week of Cooking

I promised じゅるる that I'll cook all week this week.

Cuz... I haven't made a single meal since we moved to this apartment -__- And I wanted to prove that I'm a contributing adult in this household. *ahem*

Monday:
After telling Ichigo that I was gonna cook all week, she freaked out. She insisted we go grocery shopping and wanted to go to a Korean market, but we voted against it cuz of the traffic. So we ended up going to SM Mitsuwa to buy some stuff.

Anyhoo, I (er Ichigo) ended up making...
* 焼き魚 (2 pieces of salmon & 1 piece of tara)
* カボチャ mixed w/ cream cheese
* 野菜炒め

Pretty simple for the first day.

Tuesday (at Koge House):
* Gyoza
* Oyster mushroom炒め
* Boiled Chinese broccoli

Wednesday:
I was feeling sick, so じゅるる ended up making 生 abura-soba at home.
Me? I just ate toast.

Thursday:
We had lots of leftovers, so I made rice and heated up a lot of leftovers.

But I also made miso-wasabi cucumber side dish. The only problem was, we only can eat one cucumber in a sitting, but I had made three.

Friday (at Koge House):
We were craving pizza, so we ordered from Papa John's.

So I ended up only cooking two days (+ one day of leftovers)... but not so bad, eh?

Yard Sale III in WLA

We decided to try a yard sale in WLA this time around.

Since we don't have any trees out front like Dee's house, we set up a canopy. Although it doesn't help much when the sun isn't on top of us... like early in the morning.

We didn't post any signs, but some people came over.
Most of them were folks in the neighborhood, though.

There were some people who drove by slowly... or even stopped, but they weren't interested in old clothes & anime stuff, I guess. Maybe we'll sell extra furniture stuff next time. I have a lot of office chairs to get rid of.

Japan Day 14

After all the shopping & receiving gifts... our bags were completely packed! We should have brought a big suitcase.

So we took two trips to Ikebukuro Prince to take our luggage.
Good thing it wasn't raining.

After buying limo bus tickets & checking in our luggage, we headed to Sunshine mall to have lunch.

We went to a Chinese restaurant to eat fried rice & gyoza.
Came w/ soup & dessert too.
No photos, tho.

I bought a few more things at the 100yen shop, and we boarded the limo bus. We decided to go to Narita early, so we can check in, do a little shopping & rest before getting on the plane.

It was rainy the whole bus ride.
And we slept through most of the bus ride.

At Narita, we did omiyage shopping for co-workers & friends.
And we ate at Fujiya restaurant, since I didn't have parfait during our whole trip. I also had gratin & じゅるる had chicken nanban. I got the tropical parfait, thinking there weren't any bananas in there... but they had bananas. じゅるる ate them all for me, though.

By the time we got to the gate, they were already boarding.
Yikes!
We got on the plane, stuffed the overhead bins w/ all our paper bags of stuff. I slept most of the trip home. I think じゅるる stayed up, though.

Sat came to pick us up... and after showering, I headed to LBCC w/ Sat. I was tired, but thought it would help w/ my jet lag.

Japan Day 13

Today, we were gonna go to Akihabara... but lazy, so decided to just hang out in Ikebukuro area.

We went to Bankara ramen shop again.

This time I had hakata ramen & じゅるる had the tokunou ramen. I think it has extra fat pieces floating in there.

After lunch, we went to a manga cafe b/c じゅるる hasn't been to one before. We stayed for two hours, then went back to the hotel. I could have just bought manga & read at the hotel, I suppose...

For dinner, we went to Shin Okubo to meet up w/ Ruuku and Yuka for dinner. They took us to a Korean restaurant. I didn't take any photos...! But everything was really good!

Last night in Tokyo... leaving tomorrow around noon.
But I'm ready to go home now.

Japan Day 12

Today, we went to Itoyokado in Akabane to go buy じゅるる's shoes.
All of the ABC Marts in Ikebukuro didn't have the type of shoes he wanted. Boo!

We also shopped for food items at the basement floor.
Like nama-ramen, monja-yaki and stuff.

じゅるる ate katsu sandwich & I had takoyaki for lunch there too.

For dinner, we had separate plans.
じゅるる was meeting college friends for yaki niku, and I went out to eat dinner w/ people from studio G.

I had requested monja, so they took me to a restaurant in Kichijoji.
We had two types of monja, two types of okonomiyaki, then finished off w/ takoyaki and yakisoba. Soooo happy!

Oops, I only took a photo of the yakisoba...

I got back to the hotel before じゅるる, so I went to MatsuKiyo to buy some souvenirs. Then went to the arcade next door to win some mini plushies until he got back.
